A Shipment Of Slightly Burned Sears Activewear
d found a beautiful corset and reports her reaction at the low, low price:
until i realized that it was on sale for only $20.
i freaked out. and immediately started trying to find out what was wrong with it. was it ripped? was there a piece missing? nope, no rips. all pieces including detachable garters were present. the only thing i could figure was that because it's such a strange color, the usual la vie en rose customers weren't interested and they decided to put it on sale to offload it.
A whole episode of The Simpsons is based on Marge's discovery of a Chanel dress at the used clothing store at the Ogdenville Outlet Mall. It was $90 marked down from $2800. Near the end, when Marge rips the dress (after having significantly altered it more than twice), and is about to be confirmed as a member of the country club (only because she was dressed fabulously), she buys another dress at regular price—thousands of dollars—at a regular store, but not before going back to the used clothing store to try to find one at an extremely low price:
Marge: Miss? Miss? Do you have a Chanel suit or any other high quality clothes?
Saleswoman: No, ma'am, but we do have a shipment of slightly burned Sears activewear coming in this afternoon.
Marge: Oh, I give up. [walks away]
Cletus: What time and how burnt?
To me, 90 dollars seems like a lot of money for a dress.
