But the Truth Can Be Harsh and Disturbing!
In a dissection of pop-scientist Brian Greene's writings, Amanda Schaffer links to Ode on a Grecian Urn by John Keats, which contains the line "Beauty is truth, truth beauty".
The line was used in the episode of the Simpsons where Bart was being sent to military school and Lisa, who was taken along for the tour, decided she wanted to join, but not before Marge expressed her annoyance after seeing a classroom discussion:
Cadet: Truth is beauty, beauty truth, sir!
Lisa: They're discussing poetry! Oh, they never do that at my school.
Teacher: But the truth can be harsh and disturbing! How can that be considered beautiful?
Marge: Well, they sure sucked the fun out of that poem.
